CACSA’s ED Alex Medler, writes for the Fordham Institute and explains that serving as a charter authorizer is serious business, but also a regular part of so many education leaders’ jobs that it is not even news when Biden nominates a secretary of Education who is a current charter school authorizer. In fact, 3 of the last 4 U.S. Secretaries of Education (including Dr. Miguel Cardona) were authorizers prior to taking the helm at the U.S. Department.
