Quarterly CACSA/CDE Authorizer Meeting Wednesday, May 25, from 9:30 to 3:00 p.m.

Register here, and you will receive the zoom link to participate remotely. In addition to time for networking and peer-to-peer sharing and problem-solving, participants will:
- Learn about the Roaring Fork School District’s efforts to improve relationships with charter schools in the district through a partnership supported by the Gates Family Foundation. You can read a case study about this initiative here.
- Explore NACSA’s 12 essential authorizing practices and discuss how your district can make progress and how CACSA resources can help in adopting these practices. Begin with this self-assessment.
- Get updates from CDE, CACSA, and a legislative wrap-up from the Colorado League of Charter Schools.
- Discuss recent policy changes that will affect authorizing and charter schools, including:
- a. State Board decision affecting application timelines;
- b. State Board rules affecting enrollment and placement of students with disabilities in charter schools and participating in other public school choice options; and
- c. Legislation creating options for Alternative Administrative Units (AU) that allows charter schools to exit their district’s AU for the purposes of special education, potentially affecting financial, legal, and administrative responsibilities for charters and districts.
