Indicators of Distress Discussion:  At CACSA’s Monthly Authorizer-Only Call

This month’s authorizer-only conference call is Wednesday, 10-20-21, from 12 to 1:30 pm. Like every month, the call will include updates from CACSA as well as time to network and share ideas or ask questions of your colleagues. This month’s substantive focus is on Indicators of Distress. WestED and the National Charter School Resource Center have been researching and creating tools to help authorizers use leading indicators to identify charter schools that are in trouble, before it is too late. The session will explore a series of “caselets” to drive a discussion of what an authorizer can see and what it may reflect about a school’s challenging. Background information on the project is available here, and a set of resources includes an introductory report and several tools and recorded webinars.

CACSA Bootcamp Starts Nov. 1

You are invited to the 2021 CACSA Authorizer Bootcamp!

You can register for the bootcamp here. CACSA’s federal grant allows us to put this on at no cost to CACSA members. If you have any questions, contact Alex Medler via email at Alex.Medler@coauthorizers.org, or via phone at 720-635-8329 for more information.

The bootcamp is designed for people new to the work of authorizing or anyone wanting a comprehensive review of best practices for the full range of tasks authorizers perform. The bootcamp includes supporting information from state policy and incorporates an array of model tools authorizers can apply in their district. The bootcamp is virtual, with two-hour meetings each week for six weeks in November and December. We are also recruiting experienced authorizers to join the sessions and provide advice and real-world stories to inform new authorizers.
