News & Updates

The Tri-State Alliance is hosting weekly webinars on authorizing tasks affected by COVID19. This week’s call examined charter renewal processes during the crisis. You can view a video of the webinar here.

The next call is scheduled from 2:00 to 3:00 pm MDT, on May 14 and will cover closures and mergers of schools during the crisis. You can register for the call here. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email with information about joining the meeting. Further webinars are scheduled for Thursdays, from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm MDT, on the following topics:
1. Closures and mergers, 5/21
1. State specific webinars on budget Issues, 5/28 (Separate calls for CCAP, CACSA, and FACSA)
2. Reopening and distance learning plans, 6/4
3. Special Education, 6/18
4. English Learners, 7/9
5. Interim assessments and the evolution of accountability, 7/23
6. Monitoring enrollment and student engagement during distance learning, including special populations, 8/6

This week’s call featured efforts to revise renewal processes by Denver Public Schools (DPS) and the Colorado Charter School Institute (CSI). Documents reflecting the approach by CSI are available here, and a deck on the topic here. Both authorizers were striving to provide continuity and transparency to the schools in their portfolio, while making adjustments that allowed them to potentially broaden the body of evidence they use but in carefully defined ways. Read more about these approaches and the discussion of many potential data sources in the attached summary.

The whole Tri-State Team from CCAP, CACSA, and FACSA hope you can join us for future calls.

Alex
